What is Truvitalyte?

Truvitalyte is a scientifically proven and economical solution for maintaining electrolyte balance, providing essential electrolyte components and reducing stress during diarrhea in calves. The mixed buffer solution has key components to assist in maintaining electrolyte balance in dehydrated calves, including:

  • Blood buffers – Sodium Acetate, Potassium Citrate, Sodium Citrate
  • Sodium
  • Glycine
  • Potassium
  • Energy – Multiple energy sources for greater absorption
  • Sweetener and Flavouring

Sodium: 127 mmol/L
Dextrose/Maltodextrin: 125 mmol/L
Glycine: 40 mmol/L
Blood Buffers: 50 mmol/L
Potassium: 25 mmol/L
Chloride: 83 mmol/L
Total Osmolarity: 450 mmol/L

Truvitalyte is recommended for use in maintaining proper electrolyte balance in calves, lambs, and kid goats. Truvitalyte is water soluble and available in single dose, 5kg, and 10kg formats. This product should be administered twice daily during diarrhea challenges or periods of stress.

Proven in Trials

An internal research trial was conducted at the Mapleview Agri commercial research facility in 2019 to test the effect of Truvitalyte on weight gain, hydration, and blood gas parameters in dairy calves. When comparing blood measures in dehydrated calves to measures of a healthy calf, Truvitalyte administration resulted in improvements over a 24 hour period:

Truvitalyte increased pH from enrollment to 24 hours following administration

Truvitalyte elevated carbon dioxide partial pressure following administration

Truvitalyte elevated bicarbonate and base excess levels 8 hours following administration

What Does This Mean?

The results of the trial show that administering Truvitalyte to calves with diarrhea resulted in improved acid base status and bicarbonate level after 8 hours, and increased pH and partial pressure of carbon dioxide.

Overall, Truvitalyte reduced risk of metabolic acidosis in dehydrated calves.

    Its the better powder i have ever use for my calf .

    Very good product
    For the truvitalyte powder 5 STARS very good product and probably the best on the market at least better than that of vets sell me .
    But the plastic container has a leaky lid and the product takes moisture easily …. It then freezes like a block
    So it’s why the 3 stars review .
